Yep, that's a lot better.

When we first got our hands on the C8 Corvette at our annual Performance Car of the Year test in September, we found the exhaust nice to listen to, but a bit too quiet for our tastes. Several aftermarket exhausts have since fixed that problem, but this one, made by Long Tube Headers of Spartanburg, South Carolina, might be the best of the bunch.

Made in America using 304 stainless steel and sporting a matte "Titan" finish, Long Tube's header setup can be used with the stock catalytic converters or the company's own high-flow EPA-compliant cats, which is what the car above is running. The car in the video is still using the factory two-mode exhaust, meaning it can switch between quiet and full-on loud mode.

The setup allows the C8's naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V-8 to sing in a way we haven't heard before. The deep, throaty noise reminds us of the last-gen GTLM C7.R—arguably the best-sounding modern American race car out there. We can't stop listening.

If the base C8's engine can sound this good, we can only imagine what sort of potential the upcoming Z06 has.
